Seekers Church Endorses Boston Declaration

Seekers Church endorses the Boston Declaration, a prophetic appeal to Christians of the United States. It was initially signed by 300 theologians and religious leaders who were in attendance at the 2017 meeting of the American Academy of Relgion/Society of Biblical Literature, and has subsequently been signed by over 1000 more throughout the US. The Declaration begins:
As followers of Jesus, the Jewish prophet for justice whose life reminds us to, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31) we hear the cries of women and men speaking out about sexual abuse at the hands of leaders in power and we are outraged.

Seekers’ BLM Witness

Since last spring, Seekers have been witnessing weekly for Black Lives Matter in front of Seekers Church, accompanied by a musical background of stirring peace and justice songs. It is a wonderful opportunity to show up for racial justice and experience unity as passing drivers and pedestrians of all races and ethnicities wave and raise fists.  Cars honk, bicyclists ring their little bike bells, pedestrians thank us, and sometimes passers-by ask for a sign and join in.  During this dark time of year, you’ll see us standing there from 12:30 to 1:30 pm on Sundays.  Feel free to join us—we have signs for anyone who needs one.…

Seekers Online Art Gallery 2020 presents “Artists Behind Bars”

In collaboration with The Justice Arts Coalition, a national network and resource for those creating art in and around the criminal legal system, the Seekers Church Art Gallery is pleased to present a show of Artists Behind Bars. This group exhibition exemplifies the spirit of the artists who work under far less than ideal circumstance, often with a very limited variety of materials. Many of the artists are self-taught; some working from internal visions, other from resources in the prison or jail library, and yet others have had formal training in or out of the carceral system.  This show includes drawings and paintings and is the first show in a series we plan to show over the next several years.…

International Giving 2020

INTERNATIONAL GIVING
2017

Seekers Church continues to support many missions and ministries in the United States and other countries. The amount budgeted for international giving this year approaches 20% of what we expect to receive in offerings over the course of the year. Once our budget for the year was approved, and the overall amount available for international giving had been determined by the Stewards of Seekers Church, all Seekers were invited to request support for missions or ministries where they are personally involved.

After worship on February 19th the community met to determine how our international giving will be distributed. At that community meeting we affirmed support for 13 international missions and ministries:

World Organization for Resource Development & Education (WORDE)

Domestic Giving 2020

Seekers Church donates generously to missions and ministries within the United States, with an amount budgeted that equals a bit over 25% of expected offerings for the year.  The community has agreed to several conditions to ensure that our giving is connected to and reinforces our personal efforts and passions. Larger should reinforce Seekers values, involve significant personal support from Seekers members, and foster a change from charity to solidarity. We want to support systemic and lasting change. Smaller grants may be given to incubate new ideas for mission, support emergence of call, bear witness to God’s work in the world, or support Seekers members living out their call to mission.…
