Meet Pat Conover
Some of my biggest satisfactions in life include sharing marriage with Trish Nemore, enjoying constructive conversations about things that matter, working at a meditative pace in my yard and garden, keeping track of what’s going on with my five children and ten, soon to be eleven, grandchildren, following the Chicago Bears in pro football and the Cleveland Indians in pro baseball, and writing progressive Christian theology. I also like to write stories, poetry, and new words to songs and hymns.
I am part of the Eyes to See, Ears to Hear, Peace Prayer Mission Group that is part of Seekers and meets on Wednesday nights, usually in our living room or Summer House. Our mission of paying attention to all that is tragic and wrong in the word, holding the pain in prayer, keeps me broken-hearted despite our efforts to make things better, keeps me joyful because so many people in the United States and around the world are doing their parts in their circumstances. Seekers is doing its part, but measured by the tragedy scale in the world, even our combined efforts reduce us to prayer and hope. I spend a good bit of energy following and contributing to progressive electoral politics as part of facing forward into what is wrong in the United States and celebrating the courage, steadfastness, and occasional victories of people who offered themselves to become elected honest progressive public servants.
